10 Essential Vastu Tips for New House Construction in Delhi
Vastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of architecture and spatial arrangement. When building a new house in Delhi, integrating Vastu principles ensures positive energy flow, prosperity, and harmony. Nirman Ved has built 500+ Vastu-compliant homes and shares these essential guidelines.
The main entrance should ideally face North or East. North-facing entrances are considered auspicious for wealth, while East-facing entrances welcome the morning sun's positive energy. If your plot faces South or West, a Vastu expert can suggest corrective measures without major design compromises.
The kitchen should be placed in the South-East corner (Agni corner) of the house. The cook should face East while cooking. The gas stove and water sink should not be placed adjacent to each other — maintain at least 2 feet distance between fire and water elements.
The master bedroom should be in the South-West corner. This direction represents stability and strength for the head of the family. The bed should be placed with the head pointing South for better sleep quality. Avoid placing mirrors directly opposite the bed.
The pooja room (prayer room) should be in the North-East corner (Ishaan corner). This is considered the most sacred direction. The prayer area should be elevated from the floor, and family members should face East or North while praying.
Staircases should be placed in the South, West, or South-West portion of the house. The staircase should always turn clockwise (right to left when going up). Avoid placing the staircase in the center of the house or in the North-East corner.
The toilet and bathroom should never be in the North-East corner or adjacent to the kitchen or pooja room. The best locations are South-West or North-West. The toilet seat should face North-South, never East-West.
Living rooms work best in the North or East portion of the house. The North direction attracts wealth and opportunities. Place the television and electronics in the South-East corner of the living room.
Windows should be larger on the North and East walls to allow morning light and cross-ventilation. The South and West walls should have smaller windows to minimize heat gain during Delhi's intense summers.
Water storage (overhead tanks and underground tanks) should be placed in the North-East or North direction. Boring and water sources should also be in the North-East. This Vastu principle aligns with practical water pressure considerations as well.
