At Nirman Ved's published renovation rates, a full bathroom renovation in Delhi works out to roughly ₹60,000 to ₹1.5 lakh and a kitchen renovation to ₹1.2 to 3.6 lakh, depending on the tier you choose and before appliances. The rate card behind those figures is simple: ₹800 per sqft for a cosmetic refresh, ₹1,500 per sqft for a standard renovation and ₹3,000 per sqft for a premium one, applied to the room's floor area. Bathrooms and kitchens sit at the upper end of any renovation budget because waterproofing, plumbing, tiling and electrical work are all concentrated in a few square feet. This guide shows what the numbers include, what pushes them up, how long the work takes, and how to time it around the winter GRAP restrictions.

How Much Does a Bathroom Renovation Cost in Delhi?

A Delhi bathroom is typically 40 to 50 sqft. At our renovation tiers, that gives three honest ranges. A cosmetic update at ₹800 per sqft, about ₹32,000-40,000, covers repainting, regrouting, replacing taps, shower and accessories, a new mirror and light fittings, and minor repairs, with the tiles and plumbing left in place. A standard renovation at ₹1,500 per sqft, about ₹60,000-75,000, strips the bathroom to the shell: new floor and wall tiles, fresh waterproofing, replaced concealed plumbing and drainage, new sanitaryware and CP fittings, rewired points, a new door and a proper exhaust. A premium renovation at ₹3,000 per sqft, about ₹1.2-1.5 lakh, adds branded sanitaryware and fittings, large-format or stone finishes, a glass shower enclosure, a wall-hung WC with a concealed cistern, a false ceiling with recessed lighting, and a designer vanity. Layout changes, such as moving the WC or the shower, add plumbing and floor-cutting work on top of any tier.

What Does a Full Bathroom Renovation Include?

In sequence: protection of the rest of the house and demolition of tiles, fixtures and the old screed; inspection of the slab and the drainage points; a fresh waterproofing system on the floor and up the wet walls, which at our published waterproofing rates costs ₹45-150 per sqft depending on the system and is the one item never worth economising on; new hot and cold water lines and drainage in concealed chases, tested under pressure before they are closed; electrical points for geyser, exhaust, lights and shaver socket; screed and floor tiles laid to a fall towards the drain; wall tiles; sanitaryware and fittings; door, ventilator and exhaust fan; and a final silicone-and-grout finish. A renovation that skips the waterproofing or the pressure test is cheaper on paper and dearer in the ceiling below.

How Much Does a Kitchen Renovation Cost in Delhi?

A Delhi kitchen is usually 80 to 120 sqft, so the same tiers give ₹64,000-96,000 for a cosmetic update (paint, new dado tiles above the counter, taps, lights, minor carpentry repairs), ₹1.2-1.8 lakh for a standard renovation (new flooring and dado, counter and sink replaced, plumbing and drainage renewed, rewired points for chimney, oven and appliances, exhaust, and repairs to existing cabinets) and ₹2.4-3.6 lakh for a premium renovation, which in our package includes a modular kitchen with new cabinetry, premium counter material, concealed lighting and a false ceiling. In the cosmetic and standard tiers, new modular cabinetry is priced separately, because its cost depends almost entirely on the carcass material, the shutter finish and the hardware you choose rather than on the room's area. Appliances are never included.

What Drives the Price Up or Down?

Layout. Moving the WC, the kitchen sink or the drain point means cutting the floor, re-routing drainage with the right fall and sometimes core-drilling a slab, and it is the single biggest variable. Concealed versus surface plumbing and wiring: concealed is neater and costs more in chasing and making good. Tile size and material: large-format tiles and natural stone cost more to buy and more to lay, and stone also needs sealing. Brand of sanitaryware and fittings: the gap between an entry-level and a branded set of taps, shower and WC can exceed the cost of the tiling. Electrical load: a chimney, an induction hob, an oven and a dishwasher need dedicated circuits and sometimes a new sub-board. Ventilation and daylight: adding a window or a duct run adds cost but pays back in a bathroom that dries. And condition: an older Delhi house often reveals corroded pipes or a saturated slab once the tiles come off, which is why we quote a fixed price after a site visit rather than from a floor plan.

How Long Does the Work Take?

We plan a standard bathroom renovation at 10 to 15 working days, most of it waiting: waterproofing needs curing and testing before tiling, and tile adhesive and grout need their own set time before the fittings go on. A kitchen takes three to four weeks, longer if cabinetry is being fabricated off-site or the layout changes. Two bathrooms done in sequence take less than twice as long because the trades overlap.

Can You Live in the House During a Bathroom or Kitchen Renovation?

Yes, and most of our clients do. The rule is one wet area at a time: renovate one bathroom while the family uses the other, and set up a temporary kitchen point (a tap, a counter, a plug) before the main kitchen is stripped. Dust sheets on doorways, a daily clean-down and a fixed working window keep the rest of the house usable. If you are doing both bathrooms and the kitchen together, that is usually the point at which moving out for three weeks costs less than the disruption.

How Do GST and the Winter GRAP Ban Affect Renovation?

Renovation is a works contract, so GST applies at 18% on the contract value; our guide to GST, TDS and labour cess on construction explains the rules and the exemption for pure labour contracts on a single house. Timing matters more than most people expect: once GRAP Stage III is invoked in winter, cutting and fixing tiles, plaster and painting are banned except for minor indoor repairs, and a full re-tiling is not minor. Bathroom and kitchen jobs in Delhi should therefore start by early October or wait until February, as our GRAP restrictions guide sets out.

How Do You Get a Fixed-Price Quote?

Ask for an itemised scope that names the waterproofing system, the plumbing material, the tile specification and the sanitaryware brands, a fixed price for that scope with a stated allowance for the items you have not yet chosen, a milestone payment schedule, and a warranty. Nirman Ved provides a written scope and a fixed-price quotation after a free site visit for renovations anywhere in Delhi NCR, with a 1-year general warranty on plumbing, electrical and finishing defects.
